Residents of LOHAS Park were seen queuing in grocery stores and large chain stores Friday as Super Typhoon Saola arrived.
As many residents prepare to store food due to the effects of Super Typhoon Soala, there has been an increase in people scrambling for groceries in supermarkets and other grocery stores.
LOHAS Park, which was seen as an isolated island with only one department store, FRESH, also met the same fate today, with the department store shelves being raided empty.
Some residents stated that this was normal because it was the only large department store in the area.
They added that it was fortunate that other retail stores, such as Best Mart 360 and Foodville, were still open, so they did not have to fight for the groceries.
Large chain stores such as McDonald’s and KFC that were open despite the No. 8 signal were met with large waves of customers, and the crowd of customers had to be regulated with crowd control measures as the queues snaked out of the stores.
McDonald’s was recorded to have both dine-in and takeaway customers reach full capacity, and customers had to wait more than 20 numbers before getting their food.
