[ 這樣說，為何錯？！]
#1 丟垃圾= throw rubbish?
廣東話說的「丟垃圾」，是「丟掉、棄置」的意思; 但英語的throw卻是「擲、掟、扔」的意思。 如果外國人聽到Some people throw rubbish in the street，必會莫名其妙，還以為有人患上精神病，隨處把臭氣薰天的垃圾在半空「拋上拋下」!
丟垃圾帶有「丟棄」的含意，英文就必須在throw後加上away，例如throw away old furniture（丟掉舊家具）、throw away old books (扔掉舊書籍) 等等。 除此之外，還有其他的表達方法：
• Dump
He dumped the newspapers in the recycle bin after reading them.
（他看過報紙後，把報紙放在回收箱裡。）
• Dispose of
Surely scientists must work out a safe way to dispose of nuclear waste.
（當然，科學家們必須制定出一個安全的方式處置核廢料。）
• Get rid of
There are many ways to get rid of the garbage in a responsible manner.
（有許多負責任的方式棄置垃圾。）
從今天起，大家要記住是「丟垃圾」(throw away rubbish)，再不要把垃圾「拋上拋下」(throw rubbish)！
